Small Fishing Harbour Idyll

Koguva village is probably the best-known village in Estonia. The village and Muhu island were featured in books by Juhan Smuul, who was born here a hundred years ago. A cult film based on the books has permanently stored views of the village in the memories of Estonians.

Therefore, the expectations for what the village yacht harbour restaurant Bottengarn offers are very high. Fortunately, Bottengarn copes well with the expectations, serving dishes featuring local fish alongside beef and lamb from the island. Accommodation options include an old boat, a very comfortable boutique hotel or villas floating in harbour water.

The restaurant’s operators have changed frequently and with them the methods of preparing the food. Yet the Bottengarn restaurant with its dining tables in a shed between piles of fishing nets or outside with an incredible view of the harbour and the sea, is the same Bottengarn from year to year. Every season it is interesting to come here to see and taste what is different this time.
