More than 100 years ago, the owner of a St Petersburg department store built the imposing turreted stone castle to show the inhabitants of the local low wooden houses where they belonged. Nowadays, the castle houses the small hotel and restaurant with the ambition to be the most prestigious in Haapsalu. This ambition has been realised.
