Fisherman’s restaurant
Sahver (pantry) is not an accidental name. According to the restaurant’s website, the dishes are made from what is usually found in the pantries of farms around lake Võrtsjärv. Looking at the menu it seems like the larders are full of eel, because the fish features on the menu twice, in a marinated and a soup form. There is nothing surprising about that. If the quotas do not allow fishing or the fish simply won’t bite in the lake, there is a large eel farm a few kilometres down the road. The farm has plenty of eel to go around.
Võrtsu Sahver is special because it is a lake fisherman’s restaurant. Of course, fish dishes are offered here, the recipes of which have been passed down from generation to generation. The fisherman-themed milieu of the dining room adds spice to these dishes.
Võrtsu Sahver is a unique place to eat. It is worth coming here from nearby or from far away.
