If a person entering a restaurant is asked if they came to the cinema or just to eat, they will be speechless. Do you know another place in the world where a cinema and a restaurant are in the same space? In Estonia there is such a place and it’s not difficult to find as it is right at the foot of the highest peak Munamägi.
The cinema called Suur Muna offers films worth watching and food worth eating. The selected films have received awards at European film festivals. Without exception, the food receives rave reviews from everyone who comes here. Perhaps even praise from those who like to eat game. There is certainly no other restaurant in Estonia where we have been able to choose between beaver, wild boar, deer and goat meat at the same time. Therefore, don’t only look at the menu on paper, but also what is written in chalk on the board above the counter.
Those who don’t have a hankering for meat can have fish from lake Peipus or plant-based dishes with local vegetables. Everything is honest and sustainable stuff. The films that are shown here can also be viewed elsewhere, but you can’t get such food anywhere else.
