The old mill building stands out from all the houses in suburban Peetri village. It has been expanded with a modern extension, and both together are the location of the Italian restaurant Rucola.
Entrants are greeted by a pizza oven, a long bar counter and a genuine Italian atmosphere. The level of chatter is much higher than is customary in Estonian restaurants. The wine is poured with a generous hand, and the food portions are so large that there is no room for dessert after eating a starter and a main.
There is no attempt here to put a unique spin on Italian food, the dishes are classic, but very tasty. Better porcini ravioli in cream sauce with Crudo ham or Vitello Tonnato can’t be found in the whole of Estonia. The house wines Rucola Rosso and Rucola Bianco are a good pairing for most of the restaurant’s dishes. Limoncello, to finish, perfectly replaces the skipped dessert.
