The Mooste Manor complex is an imposing set of buildings. The distillery certainly had a role in bringing such wealth to the area. Currently no vodka is distilled here, but stronger drinks are available in the form of differently flavoured handsas (a drink Seto people make out of malt). You can’t get them anywhere but here. We tasted different ones and liked the honey flavoured handsa the best.
The handsa is also served with trout soup, made of fish grown nearby in Karilatsi, Põltsama. This soup is worth coming back for and eating again. Just like the distillery. There are two very different experiences you can have while visiting the Mooste Distillery. A good experience of local food when you just drive through and stop to eat. However, you will have a much deeper experience if you stay for the night in one of the seven guest rooms in addition to eating here.
When there are no events, Mooste is a picturesque place isolated from the world, where you can feel like a distiller or a lord. Depending on your mood.
