Restaurant MEKK was the only one to offer Estonian cuisine when foreign tastes prevailed. The more exotic flavours were, the better they were considered. Little by little, MEKK’s genuine Estonian stubbornness to tirelessly promote domestic cuisine caught on. MEKK was the flagship of modern Estonian cuisine for many years until it closed its doors in difficult times.
Now MEKK is open again and is in a completely new location, in the lobby of a skyscraper hotel. The cuisine based on old traditions in now offered from early morning to late evening. Those who still remember the former MEKK will note that the dishes look so recognisable as if they were taken along from the former place. And their flavour is still the same as it used to be.
Yet there is also something new. A spacious bar is located in front of the restaurant. The cocktail selection is less local and more from elsewhere. However, local drinks are still more represented than they were at the restaurant’s previous location.
