Restaurant in bloom

Kadriorg is the greenest and most flowery area in Tallinn in summer. Restaurant Mantel ja Korsten has been serving food here for a good number of years, but now it is as if the restaurant has blossomed. Not because the restaurant’s walls, located in a cute little green wooden house, are covered with floral wallpaper, but because the dishes have much more lush flavours than before. Also, the staff create a blossoming atmosphere particularly suited to Kadriorg.

One of the most common shortcomings of Estonian restaurants is that the level of desserts tends to be inferior to other foods. In Mantel ja Korsten, however, all the flavours are in full bloom, from the appetizer to the dessert. It is the only way to describe head chef Märten Kadu’s dishes, where somehow mackerel tastes more like mackerel and wild strawberry tastes more like wild strawberry than anywhere else. And where the ingredients of each dish support and bring out the best qualities in each other, as if in a harmonious marriage.

Perhaps restaurants also have their seasons, just like the fresh ingredients they use in their dishes. In any case, Mantel ja Korsten is undoubtedly in season now.
