The small yellow wooden house made the tiny Lüllemäe village known amongst all Estonian foodies in a single summer. Here the food’s journey from farm to plate is shortest both in time and distance, as most ingredients are grown by the three sisters either in the greenhouse or on the various allotments nearby. Even lamb and beef are reared a few kilometres away, only fish is sourced from slightly further afield, but still from the nearest body of water suitable for fishing.
Why is this important? Less than ten years ago all the best Estonian chefs were convinced that local ingredients are not restaurant-quality and some are still of this opinion today. However in this little yellow house the three sisters will convince you otherwise, turning their homegrown produce into dishes with distinct and unique flavours. These farm fresh flavours cannot be transported anywhere else, as every minute and kilometre will change them, so it is best to plan a trip to Lüllemäe to experience this yourself. Make sure to let the sisters know in advance, so they can plan their gardening activities accordingly and have delicious food waiting for you.
