When in Haapsalu, it is impossible to avoid Kärme Küülik since it is quite literally in the centre of the town. In summer, the resto’s street terrace is surrounded by a small fence and you can only enter through a gate with a sign insisting you wait. You can’t just walk into Kärme Küülik, you must be invited.
Even in winter, when there is no terrace, someone from the restaurant family is still at the door. That is how Kärme Küülik makes you feel like a guest, not a customer. Tables here are always covered in plates as the food is brought to the table straight from the oven as soon as it is ready.
The enourmous stone oven is central to Kärme Küülik. All hot dishes are cooked here, from mouthwatering focaccia to rabbit meat and offal dishes rarely found in other restaurants. Naïve paintings and funny sculptures of rabbits ensure that the mood here is never too serious.
