Once upon a Time

Once upon a time, the town of Viljandi was called Fellin. Now, the name refers to a café-restaurant in the town centre. Last year, we were sad to announce the closing of the Fellin, the best restaurant in town. This state of affairs wasn’t permitted to stand. The locals and frequent guests literally begged the Fellin back. Now, the doors are open again and everything is like in the days gone by. Including the food. Not carefully crafted through the judicious use of a myriad of techniques, as it was before. It is simpler and more traditional. Made out of the harvest of nearby fields and vegetable patches. Honest and tasty, like in the days gone past. But not without a nod to modern customs. The pork in the borscht is cooked on a smoke grill and imparts a pleasant smoky aroma to the whole soup. The drink selection is as good as it used to be. The Fellin remains a place to come to for champagnes and good wines, which are priced more affordably than elsewhere.
