Ode to Estonian fish
In Dirhami village, all life revolves around the port. When a fishing boat arrives, there is a sudden burst of activity around it. Once the cargo is unloaded, the village will remain quiet until the next boat turns up. Another hub of village life is the Fish Café in the same port. During opening hours there are always more people in the café than anywhere else in the village combined.
Dirhami Fish Café is famous all over Estonia. The freshest fish is always served here. The sea seems to be mostly full of European sprat and Baltic herring, but other seasonal fish also features on the menu. Whatever the catch of the day is, you can count on it being turned into something delicious here. Even the boring old sprat and herring taste more pure and fresh than anywhere else.
How so? Perhaps because local fish is loved here more than anywhere else.
